Operations advisory for small and mid-sized companies.
An independent practice. I take on a limited number of engagements at a time, usually running three to nine months, and do the work directly rather than through associates.
What I work on
- Process review and documentation
- Mapping how work actually moves through a company, as opposed to how the org chart says it should, and writing it down so it survives staff turnover.
- Vendor and supplier assessment
- Reviewing contracts, service levels and dependencies, usually before a renewal or after a bad quarter.
- Reporting and internal controls
- Building the small number of reports a management team will genuinely read, and closing the gaps that show up during an audit.
- Interim operational support
- Covering a vacancy or a transition period, with a defined end date agreed at the start.
How engagements usually go
Most begin with two or three weeks of looking and asking questions. That produces a written summary of what I found, with recommendations ranked by how much effort they take rather than how ambitious they sound.
From there we either stop, which is a perfectly good outcome, or agree a scope for the work itself. I would rather turn down an engagement than take one where the useful part is already done.
Background
I have worked in operations since the early 2000s, in-house before going independent in 2016, mainly with companies between twenty and three hundred people. Manufacturing, logistics and business services, with occasional work in regulated environments.
Fluent in English, Hebrew and Russian.
